PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU CONTACT US ABOUT A STRAY/ABUSED ANIMAL. We are not animal control. We cannot pick up stray/unwanted animals and we have NO LEGAL AUTHORITY to go on people's property without permission to seize animals, no matter how dire the situation may be.  If the animals seem to be strays, and you can get us photos, we can see if someone that follows our Facebook group is willing to take them in or knows their owner. The only real option for pets you believe are being mistreated is to CALL LAW ENFORCEMENT. Call Jefferson PD if the animals are in the city limits at 903.665.2432. Call Marion County Sheriff's Department if outside the city limits but in Marion County at 903.665.7201. The county judge also has authority throughout the county regarding animal abuse investigations and animal seizures. You can reach his office at 903.665.3261.

As much as we want to help, we must operate within the law and Texas takes property rights - which include animal ownership - very seriously. Additionally, FOJA does not operate a shelter and our resources are very limited. We receive no public funds and are an all-volunteer, all in-home foster-based organization.
